Keak gets all emotional...

"First second verse, this my third
Sixth grade driving to school I had a firebird"
-Keak da Sneak, from "Super Hyphy"

You guessed it, keak da sneak is back makin music. New album out in april titled "Diefied". The new song is called "Nothing Without You," features the one and only Messy Marv, and is about Keak and his special lady.  Clearly Mr. da Sneak has gotten in touch with his feminine side and wants to express his feelings to the world. Don't hate.

Take that pre

On a note completely unrelated to music or popular culture for that matter, my friend and former next-door-neighbor AJ Acosta recently ran a 3.58.52 mile, his first sub-four, which broke Steve Prefontaine's school record for the indoor-mile and qualified AJ for the NCAA indoor championships. I know that a sub-four is something Ajs been gunning at for sometime now and I thought I'd give him his due props. Read the U of O article about it here, and watch the race below.

France knows indie ... La Blogotheque

Well in recent days the blog world hasn't given me much of anything new to post about (except this new Black Keys song which I can't find a mp3 for) so I thought I'd show off one of my favorite websites, La Blogotheque. Blogotheque is by itself just a French indie music blog (written in french not necessarily french music), but the real draw are their "Les Concerts A Emporter" or "Take Away Shows". For these shows (I'm pretty sure they started out as podcasts) artsy french director Vincent Moon films indie bands playing songs in various odd spots in Paris. The result is a very intimate look into both Paris as well as the bands themselves. Many notable acts such as; The Shins, Of Montreal, Voxtrot, Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, The Kooks, Arcade Fire, and Vampire Weekend among countless others are featured and look like they're having a great time. Below are two of my favorites; first, Grizzly Bear doing a acapella doo-wop rendition of their song "The Knife" and second, Portland band Menomena plays "Wet and Rusting" while two little kids jam. Both are really cool as are all the others linked above, so check it out...

Lil Wayne Wednesday #5 ... Problems with tha Purple

Oh sweet Jesus. Click this link now. Did you watch the video? Do that, come back after, we'll still be here ...

The last minute? Oh my god. I wonder if MTV feels bad interviewing someone who is legitimately high as a kite.

Back to the matter at hand, Weezy has a problem. He is addicted to codine/promethazine aka syrup, sizurp, purp, purple stuff or lean. People are worried, and by people I mean his mom. He's slurring his words, saying things that don't make sense and kissing other dudes. He also keeps delaying the release of his new album which is obviously because he's so high on prescription cough medicine.

In all seriousness though, purp killed Pimp C, Big Moe, and DJ Screw, I'd rather we didn't add weezy's name to the list (mostly because the carter 3 would never drop). So for Weezy and his mother's sake pray for weezy to quit lean.

For now here's some musical syrup inspiration ...

Big Moe ft Project Pat, Big Pokey, and D-Gotti - Purple Stuff (Remix) ... At 1:47 Big Moe literally says he's "gonna sip, sip, sip, sip til the day that i'm gone" ... and he did, wow.

Carter 3 in april now I guess, i bet a dollar detox comes out first.

DJ Z-Trip is still tight; MSTRKRFT have mustaches

Although I still like to hold out hope that Z-Trip refuses to computer vinyl emulator programs and only fucks with vinyl, seeing him do his thing makes me not care about the answer to that question. I submit, I he does have a laptop off to the side, but whatever. No other balding thirtysomething man can continually lay down supreme mixes like DJ Z-Trip. Going from favorites like mixing the vocals from Nas' Made You Look to different really tight beats to a brand new cancerous mix of Bang Bang by Nancy Sinatra, Z-Trip still holds a precious place in my heart. I'm glad he's not still only playing private yacht parties in Miami, like Ronte once told me......... anyway he's tight.

FOR EXAMPLE SOMEONE ELSE'S VIDEO:

MSTRKRFT on the other hand just have mustaches. They're cool too, I guess.

DVNO, four capital letters

The french musical dynamos known as Justice did the world a favor this weekend by making DVNO their new single and an awesome music video. DVNO is easily one of their best songs off of their album and with a crazy ass So Me directed video Justice has yet another winner. Ballin.

Estelle ft Kanye ... Hot Fire

Estelle ft Kanye West ... I'd think Kanye was way too arrogant if he wasn't so good at having a hand in really awesome songs... this one's called "American Boy" and its really good.
