Keak gets all emotional...

"First second verse, this my third
Sixth grade driving to school I had a firebird"
-Keak da Sneak, from "Super Hyphy"
You guessed it, keak da sneak is back makin music. New album out in april titled "Diefied". The new song is called "Nothing Without You," features the one and only Messy Marv, and is about Keak and his special lady. Clearly Mr. da Sneak has gotten in touch with his feminine side and wants to express his feelings to the world. Don't hate.

Take that pre
On a note completely unrelated to music or popular culture for that matter, my friend and former next-door-neighbor AJ Acosta recently ran a 3.58.52 mile, his first sub-four, which broke Steve Prefontaine's school record for the indoor-mile and qualified AJ for the NCAA indoor championships. I know that a sub-four is something Ajs been gunning at for sometime now and I thought I'd give him his due props. Read the U of O article about it here, and watch the race below.

France knows indie ... La Blogotheque
Well in recent days the blog world hasn't given me much of anything new to post about (except this new Black Keys song which I can't find a mp3 for) so I thought I'd show off one of my favorite websites, La Blogotheque. Blogotheque is by itself just a French indie music blog (written in french not necessarily french music), but the real draw are their "Les Concerts A Emporter" or "Take Away Shows". For these shows (I'm pretty sure they started out as podcasts) artsy french director Vincent Moon films indie bands playing songs in various odd spots in Paris. The result is a very intimate look into both Paris as well as the bands themselves. Many notable acts such as; The Shins, Of Montreal, Voxtrot, Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, The Kooks, Arcade Fire, and Vampire Weekend among countless others are featured and look like they're having a great time. Below are two of my favorites; first, Grizzly Bear doing a acapella doo-wop rendition of their song "The Knife" and second, Portland band Menomena plays "Wet and Rusting" while two little kids jam. Both are really cool as are all the others linked above, so check it out...

RATATAT where are you?
Ratatat is one of my favorite bands. i saw them in Portland last year and bought the second instalation in their remix compilation series. turns out they are giving it out for free, it also turns out it is the dopest remix CD ever created. you probably cannot get the actual CD anymore but at least you can download the album for free. hereghostface ft. jadakiss-Run
